Quote:
"Society does not consist of individuals, but expresses the sum of interrelations, the relations within which these individuals stand." - Karl Marx

My thoughts:
I chose this chapter based on the idea of social interaction and social structure because they are such large parts of everyones life.  Such as how your life is laid out for you can really depend on your social class and that may not always be the case but for most it is. I found it to be very interesting when I read another article saying they could determine how well a kid may do in school before it was born just basing it off its family's social class.  But in the chapter the when Emile Durkheim talks about what society is and how its held together was very fascinating to me. How she talked about the social classes and culture and then the divisions of those.

It really opened my eyes to see that what she said is true and every where i looked all i ever saw were groups.  Whether it was groups for school or friends or work all these social structures and interaction is what holds this society together.  When i looked at my own groups i realized they hold my life together such as my family, sports, friends and school.  Its the glue to my society.
