“Research is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought”-Albert Szent-Gyorgyi Information on Sociological Research: http://www.slideshare.net/edithosb/research-methods-basic-sociology - This one has interactive slides like a power point. Pretty helpful! My thoughts: This chapter grabbed my interest because it talks about all the ways they get information in order to test hypothesis. It is very informative and really explains the research that sociologists have to go through in order to gain the information they want to examine. I was looking at the chapter and saw a lot of correlations between the things they try to answer in the method used and the answers i look for in methods i use to test things in biology. It really explain the science part of the idea of sociology like hypothesis, variable, random sample, and informed consent. Those are just a few similar terms and I am a science guy so it keeps my attention when i can compare it to my field. I think another part of the chapter that caught my interest was how many different ways there are to collect the information. The chapter talks about the questionnaires, interviews, observations, and participant observation. There were all sorts of methods and how each on works best for certain situations. The video i posted talks about all of them and the pro's and con's of each i found it interesting. Chapter 3 Crossword Please complete the crossword puzzle below
